The ISD provides valuable supports to districts to address a range of needs. MTSS implementation is one area districts work to do well; however, implementation is easier said than done. ISD leaders will assess county-wide MTSS readiness, needs, and capacity to meet the range of needs. ISD leaders will meet with TA Center staff serving as thought partners to engage in county-wide planning to support MTSS implementation.
Continuous data-based decision making is an essential component of MTSS. In this module, district teams will establish processes for collecting and using data during monthly team meetings to inform and improve implementation supports.
Data-based decision making across all levels of the district is a critical MTSS component. A first step for the District Implementation Team is understanding the components of an effective assessment system. The MiMTSS TAC data coordination support that will initially be provided to build a strong system will be outlined. Teams will also review timelines for when district decisions related to data coordination are needed.
The MDE MTSS Practice Profile was developed to guide the development and refinement of the necessary supports for MTSS implementation (e.g., professional learning). This session prepares district and school leaders to understand its contents to be able to use the MTSS Practice Profile as a starting point for creating districtwide readiness for more in-depth MTSS related professional learning.
The District Implementation Team Data Review allows for protected time for the DIT to engage in continuous data-based decision making, an essential component of MTSS.
